PowerAlign – Flexible shore power for container terminals

PowerAlign is Cavotec’s modular and mobile shore power solution, designed to support the operational realities of modern container terminals. By enabling safe, efficient, and reliable electrical connections between quay and vessel, PowerAlign helps ports reduce emissions while maintaining productivity. Installed at the quay edge, the system combines a compact cable reel with a mobile connection interface that aligns precisely with a vessel’s shore power inlet. This flexibility allows terminals to accommodate different vessel sizes and berthing positions without relying on fixed infrastructure along the entire quay. With coverage of up to 140 metres per unit—extendable through additional modules—PowerAlign offers a scalable solution that adapts to evolving terminal layouts and traffic patterns. By enabling vessels to switch off onboard generators at berth, PowerAlign supports compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, while ensuring operational efficiency, flexibility, and safety.
